Astral Geography

The nature of space in Gondwana is commonly described in terms of planetside geography: a starscape of mountains, plains and rivers shaped by the gravity of celestial objects and phenomena.
Unlike landscapes planetside, stellar geography extends in three dimensions, its features always relative to the gravitically dominant body. Capturing the starscape in all its intricacy is the ceaseless work of stellar cartographers and astronomers, filling countless libraries.

Cosmic dust and dark matter clouds form Gondwana's vast mountain ranges, stars the hills and valleys on the interstellar plain. Most chaotic are singularity forests with thickets of shearing forces.
Gravitic slopes and wells and streams define sublight and interstellar travel. Stellar navigation relies on reading them. Where their gradients become extreme, the barrier to witchspace wears thin, forming interstellar streams and rivers that make journeys quick but turbulent.
Inside of stellar systems, gravitics are shaped by more than just celestial nature. Humankind has long mastered the creation gravitic ditches and ramparts of its own, even sinking anchors down to the surfaces of worlds to link them to its networks of in-system travel.
From these gravitic works, the witchspace tunnels and relays are built, on which further developed systems rely for interplanetary transit. Many ruins of such webs even survived Gondwana's Winter.
