from the Chancellors’ introduction at the reformation council, reaffirming the mandate of the United Planets of Carpadan (UPC): One hundred years ago, on this day, the skies were opened above our world Carpadan.
For the first time in centuries, our fathers saw the stars of old, saw the constellations of our myths and remembered them. They saw the cosmos of the ancient days, when we ruled worlds beyond our own, and our forefathers held the might of stars in the palm of their hand. It was a revelation enough to end wars, and to re-ignite in our people the march to the heavens. We found then, in this revelation, a unity of purpose. A purpose that must not be forgotten. For all the expansion to the fringes of our solar system, for all the competition and rivalry it has brought, it would be easy to forget that it was unity that brought us this far.
United, we strive for the stars and united we will reach them.

The UPC Outer Systems Survey Vessel Galleat continues its ongoing mission to establish a comprehensive deep space observation network in grid-sector 0-11-4. Multiple probes were deployed in line with the operations schedule ratified during the last report. All systems have been performing within parameters.

Preliminary sensor data has confirmed sightings of at least seventeen newly registered stars and stellar phenomena in the assigned observation area. This affirms theories that the interstellar nebulae enveloping Carpadan’s stellar system continue to deteriorate at an accelerated pace. Burst data transmission was sent back to homeworld ahead of schedule.
02.16.2135 ADDENDUM
At 04:50, readings on the last deployed probe became erratic. Onboard instrumentation could neither confirm faulty readings, nor correlate any equipment failure on the probe. A protocol of the event was sent, re-deployment and mission adjustments are under review.
