Babylon 5 is often praised for pioneering serialized storytelling. And it certainly did a lot of things differently than most TV shows in the 90s. Long-term story arcs, character trapdoors, and no reset buttons at the end of episodes...
And yet, comparing it to modern serialized streaming shows, the likes of Game of Thrones or Stranger Things, also doesn't seem quite accurate. So what is Babylon 5? Something entirely different or just a stepping-stone in-between?
To find an answer to this question, we're doing some long-term detective work! One episode after another is added to the great big tapestry that is Babylon 5, alongside a few threads that stuck out.
Even just after doing this with "Midnight on the Firing Line" and "The Gathering", we've got a plethora of dangling threads and connections. Of course, it is a bit early to start calling patterns, but we're eager to see where this leads.
