Proioxis Class Destroyer

The Proioxis is a class of powerful command and support ships of Amad Tir's Colonial Fleets, designed to extend the operational range of destroyer squadrons far beyond established forts and watchtowers of the realm.

Its primary role is to provide smaller warships of the Colonial Fleet with intelligence, fuel, and supplies. To this end, the Proioxis carries vast stores of resources and material, as well as an extensive arsenal of specialist equipment to allow for repairs and maintenance procedures to be conducted underway. In the field, the tender regularly triples the effective deployment times of its assigned destroyer units, servicing vessels between patrols and directly after engagements.

Although it is not a frontline combatant, the Proioxis is comparatively well-armed for a support vessel, carrying arrays of interceptors and third-rate gun batteries to deter enemy corvette raids and other rapid attacks.

The class was conceived as part of a broader effort to reform the Colonial Fleet of Tir into a more versatile force, deviating from its long-standing focus on countering the military power for Sinaid first and foremost. In this regard, the Proioxis was considered a great success. The new tender afforded the Colonial Fleet much greater strategic flexibility in expansion and power projection since it decreased the fleet's dependence on established infrastructure. In the event of a Sinaid invasion, the same flexibility would allow for a more effective de-centralized defense, allowing Amad Tir to gradually wear down the enemy and harass the flanks before meeting hostile forces head-on.

The concept of fleet support and motherships would become more pronounced in the second generation of new additions to the Colonial Fleet of Tir, continuing the lineage of the Proioxis.
