The twin civilizations exist in the equilibrium between two divine entities aspired by humanity. Each represents the final culmination of one path towards ascension, shaping the faith and goals and actions of the great powers following them.

Egregor

The Transcendent God of the Terran Empire is the Egregor, one singular all-mind arising from the confluence of all human spirits by way of Psionic Providence, one eternal consciusness transcending and imposing cosmic law. In the eyes of imperial Terrans, the rise of the Egregor is inevitable, its creation a foregone conclusion. Its birth has already occured in the distant future, echoing back through time into the present. This echo is the One Celestial, her being an avatar of the Transcendent God, possessing already a fraction of the Egregor's might, which is how she imposes the empire's universal language and rule.

Demiurge

The Nascent God of the Mechanist Union is the Demiurge, a unity of purpose emergent from an infinitely complex technosphere of astronomical machinery, a mechanistic universe wherein all energy and matter are measured, harnessed, and controlled. From this, the Demiurge becomes all-knowing and all-powerful within the bounds of the known universe, its might resting in infinite multitudes. To the unionist Mechanists, the birth of the Demiurge has already begun and its emergent mind becomes apparent in that which is called the Noosphere Unity, the mysterious senses and urges which drive the Union's Clades, and from which much technological mastery and wonder such as Gravitics are derived.
